Yamaha has created an awesome line of reference monitors in the HS series and the 80M represents quite well. Not only does it look great with its black exterior cabinet and white polypropylene 8” cone woofer and 1” dome tweeter, but it sounds great also. The HSM80 are made from all high quality material including the MDF (medium density fiberboard) that makes up the enclosure, helps to reduce the resonance and improve the sound quality. The Yamaha hs80m monitor also uses a low-damping rubber buffer around the speakers and beneficial magnetic shielding.

The power that drives the speakers inside these reference monitors comes from the internally powered biamplifier system which features 120watts of power and delivers it at 75watts @4ohm (LF) and 45watts@8ohm. This combination helps you be able to hear a true representation of the music mix you are producing.

Yamaha markets and sells each HS80M reference monitor as a single unit to allow sound engineers to tailor their sound system and to take advantage of the 5.1 audio systems. It also includes multiple switches that you can use to control the MID EQ, High Trim response and Room Control.

It was very hard to find anything that could be considered a negative comment about this product. When pressed to find anything wrong, one reviewer said that the wire connectors stuck out a little further than they would have liked and that the power button is no the very back of the speaker.
